Been A While

So it has been a while since my last post. We have been very busy and still are. I am going to try to re-dedicate myself to creating posts. We have been doing a lot of exciting things with code, eBusiness philosophies, and designs. Some of our latest stuff is posted online at www.CreativeWebSpinner.com. Our work was recently featured in a national publication for a local builder which was really cool. Anyway, look for more posts in the near future.

Mesu Bowls Beautifully Designed

I had an opportunity to listen to a young lady named Jen that had an idea when she was working on her thesis in college. Her idea was started by a diet. She began dieting and working on portion control. To do this she was continually measuring her food in a mesuring cup. She would then just eat out of the measuring cups. She wanted the ability to have something to measure her food and have it look good enough to put it on the dinner table. She invented mesu. It has been a huge success and been featured in many different magazines as well as other media. It has become a huge hit with celebrities as they are beginning to use them as gifts. It was cery inspiring to see someone take their idea from just that to a successful project.

Kelly Goto at the How Design Conference

This past weekend I was at the How magazine Design Conference. I had the opportunity to listen to Kelly Goto of GotoMedia talk about web design and the business side of the web. He talk was very inspiring and helpful. I also got a copy of her new book web site redesign version 2.0. She is truely focused about useability and how to improve the web for everyone. One aspect of the web that she sees as continueing to grow is blogging. She sees this as being used not just in the teenager world and personal world. Corporations are beginning to use blogs to get their messages out. This gives them a way to get the true facts out as well as they can do customer and user surveys very quickly by being able to allow visitors to their blog to comment on what they read. I think that it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.

The Adoption of Firefox

Since November 2004 we have seen the market share of the Firefox browser grow at about a percentage point per month. The web user is adopting the new software faster than ever anticipated and this is cutting into Microsofts' Internet Explorer market share primarily.

The primary reason that people are switching is due to the known security flaws in IE. There is no question that there are flaws in IE. What is yet to be determined however is if there are security flaws that are of the same level in the firefox browser. It was just discovered that there were 8 Security Flaws found in the Firefox browser.

So the question that remains to be answered is "Is Firefox more secure because it is programmatically better or just because virus and spyware/malware writters had simply not put it on their radar yet?" Now that the adoption is in full swing we will see whether it can stand the test. It will be interesting to see what happens!
